Eustace Blair Jackson, a man of gentle nature, a concerned individual, was genuinely interested in people and yet in spite of any pressures of the business world, found time to involve himself in a close family relationship. He was a gentleman in the finest tradition with a natural friendliness and warm good humor. His very successful clothing business brought him into contact with thousands of people and he was not immune to many requests for assistance. Eustace, as he was affectionately known, was a lifelong member of the Berryville Baptist Church. Being interested in Civic and Fraternal activities, he held membership in the Clarke County Ruritan Club, the Clarke County Board of Supervisors, as its Chairman, and as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Clarke County. The members of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Clarke County, Berryville, Virginia are grateful for the opportunity to have been associated with Eustace, even for a little while, and do record this expression of their admiration for him by this considered expression of the recognition and attestation to his many superior characteristics and of their sorrow in his passing. Mr. Hardesty was named Chairman, succeeding Mr. Jackson, on October 8th. In August of 1986, Mr. Milleson was promoted to Vice President, Mr. John E. Hudson to Assistant Vice President/Loans/Marketing, Mrs. Sally L. Lloyd to Assistant Vice President/Customer Services and Mrs. Rogena Larrick to Assistant Vice President/Mortgage Loans. December of 1986 saw the implementation of Saturday drive-through hours. Friday night hours were changed from 4:30 - 7:30 P.M. to 3:00 - 6:00 P.M. Also during December the Bank hosted a display by the Sesquicentennial Committee of Clarke County. Letters were sold for $3 in the lobby to be placed in the time capsule that currently rests at the Clarke County Courthouse under a large apple. The time capsule was sealed on January 1, 1987 and will be opened in 2036. Mr. Thomas Tyson Gilpin joined the Board on January 1, 1987, filling Mr. Jackson’s seat. March of 1987 saw the installation of new computer software by Broadway and Seymour, as well as the introduction of a new home equity loan plan. A by-law amendment was also approved changing the stockholders’ meeting day
