Coiner as Chairman of the Board of Directors and as a director; and Remembering Mr. Coiner’s years of service to the Bank of Clarke County, his astuteness of local business conditions, which knowledge he shared with this bank during his many years as an active participating merchant in this community, did unanimously elect E G Coiner, Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Directors and as a Member Emeritus of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Clarke County, which election the President of the Bank of Clarke County was directed to communicate to Mr. E. G. Coiner. 1970 saw bank management finally allowed to make loans to employees without Board approval. All directors were approved as appraisers for real estate loans. On January 15, 1970, Mr. William A. Bowerman and Mr. K. Dean Glaize were named Assistant Cashiers and Mrs. Dorothy Ledford was appointed Assistant Trust Officer. The time of year of the annual stockholders’ meeting was changed in 1971 to the second Thursday in April. At the April meeting, President McWilliams reported that interest rates had reached their highest point in 100 years – “On January 1st, we began paying the highest rate of interest permissible on savings accounts.” He explained that the rates graduated from the type of security from 4 ½ to 5 ¾. After the 1971 meeting, stockholders were guests of the bank at lunch served in the banking rooms. During the April 20, 1972 stockholders meeting, the 90th anniversary was observed with an adopted motion praising directors, officers and staff for advances and progress made. Boyce experience its second robbery as a Bank of Clarke County branch on January 12, 1973 at 11:23 AM. William Henry Poston, 32, of Boyce was arrested at his house on the outskirts of Boyce after the robbery. He was apprehended less than an hour later from leads given by Mr. Phil Grim of Boyce. Poston took $4,000 from Mrs. Edith Rodgers after demanding her to put it in a paper bag. He was sentenced to 18 years in prison by Circuit Court Judge Robert K. Woltz. Out of the three Boyce Branch robberies over the years, $16,498 of the $16,519 was recovered. One month later (on Valentine’s Day) Boyce was robbed again. Two men robbed the branch at 9:55 AM and took $5,700, including $250 in marked bills. Mr. Phil Grim observed their Georgia license tag. A gun was held on Mrs. Hudson while Mrs. Rodgers was instructed to take a bag to the vault. As the robbers were leaving, the two tellers were told to get inside the vault, along with Mr. Sam Johnson, a customer who had walked in. Mr. Paul Anger entered the lobby and freed them shortly after the robbery. Albert W. and Zetha Coachman, two brothers from Washington, D.C. were apprehended the next day in Washington. On February 22, 1973, the Clarke Courier felt compelled to write an editorial about the rash of robberies: “How many more times will the Boyce Branch of Bank of Clarke County be robbed without anyone being hurt and before some type of security measures are taken? How many more times can
